The focus of the UA TMA Center for Advanced Studies is to create a place where users can advance their knowledge of the Sonoran Desert Landscape and urban environments in the historical Presidio neighborhood with the goal of providing resource spaces centered around exhibitions, community, and education. Through this programmatic lens, the architectural design of the center will implement strategies that create a symbiotic relationship between the user and the architecture. This relationship will be reflected through the use of circulation as a means for carving with the human proportional system, implementing stereotomic and subtractive spaces that invites users in the site, and the use of subtraction as a mechanism for crafting views into the historic El Presidio neighborhood.
