LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

As creative lead for the University of Arizona’s Land Acknowledgement video, I led a highly collaborative project centered on honoring the sovereign Native Nations and Indigenous communities of Arizona. The work required thoughtful communication and relationship-building with representatives from numerous Arizona tribes, as well as an understanding of the distinct cultural protocols, etiquette, and traditions of each community. Working closely with our videography team, we spent an entire summer traveling throughout Arizona to document the people, landscapes, and places that give meaning to the University’s land acknowledgement. From planning and coordination to visual storytelling and production, every aspect of the project required care, flexibility, and respect. The result is a video that moves beyond a written statement to create a visual and human connection to the communities and lands the University is committed to recognizing and serving.
